The Trevi Fountain is situated in the Quirinale district of Rome, near the historic center of the city. It is located at the junction of three roads (“tre vie” in Italian), which is where its name originates. The fountain was designed by Italian architect Nicola Salvi and was completed in 1762, following several years of construction. It features a grand and ornate Baroque style, characterized by elaborate sculptural details and decorative elements. The central focus of the Trevi Fountain is a large sculptural composition representing the sea god Neptune, accompanied by two tritons. Neptune is shown riding a chariot pulled by sea horses, symbolizing the power and force of the sea.
